The conflict between humans and wildlife are often over-represented (and over-exaggerated) in the media. This often leads to heated debate in social media. The representation of this conflict across a variety of media can provide great insight into the problem, and the perceptions and attitudes of various stakeholders (e.g. public, landholders, hunters, governments, scientists, conservation organizations).
Smith CoEx lab are looking at several different sources to establish patterns and gain insight into the historical and current conflict in the print and social media. We are particularly focusing on the dingo and conflict with landholders.
